Our Mission

Volunteer Interfaith Caregivers-Southwest strives to build community through living faith by helping frail and elderly people in southwest Houston remain independent, seek health care and preserve their quality of life.

Who We Are

Volunteer Interfaith Caregivers-Southwest is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization working through a coalition of supporting congregations.  VIC-SW volunteers provide free services to help the frail and elderly live independent lives.

"I don't know what we'd do without VIC-SW.
Thank you so much.
"

What We Do

Free services provided by volunteers include:

  • Transportation to doctors and clinics, to pick up prescriptions, to go shopping, to attend religious services or to run errands
  • Remaining with a care receiver throughout a medical appointment if necessary
  • Minor household repairs and light housework
  • Assistance with paperwork and paying bills
  • Telephone reassurance
  • Companionship visits
  • Minor yard and garden work

  How VIC Helps

Many frail and elderly people face an excruciating choice:

Spend their last years in an impersonal institution, or Remain at home, isolated and housebound

With the help of VIC-SW, a third option is available to southwest Houston’s frail and elderly population; they can live independent lives in their own homes with the assistance of VIC-SW volunteers providing life sustaining services and a link to the larger community.
