What is VIC-SW?
Volunteer Interfaith Caregivers- Southwest (VIC-SW) provides free one-on-one assistance to the frail and elderly in southwest Houston through a network of volunteers who provide services including:
Transportation to visit doctors and clinics, pick up prescriptions, go shopping, attend religious services, or run errands
Minor household repairs and housework
Assistance with paperwork and
paying bills
Telephone reassurance
Companionship visits

Senior Facts
- The elderly are the fastest growing segment of the population
- 5 of every 7 women will live alone after the age of 65
- Transportation is critical to ensuring that older adults maintain their independence and remain connected to the community - Nat'l Center on Senior Transportation
- Seniors, by overwhelming numbers, would rather remain in their long-time home rather than go to assisted living
- Seniors who are isolated often become depressed and reclusive
How VIC Helps
- VIC volunteers drove over 15,000 miles and contributed almost 2,500 hours to help the frail and elderly remain independent
- No other agency in our service area offers free transportation
- Over 75% of our care receivers are both handicapped and elderly, making transportation assistance vital
- With VIC's assistance, seniors can remain a part of the larger community, taking part in everyday activities such as shopping and attending church services

Volunteer Interfaith Caregivers-Southwest strives to build community through living faith, by helping frail and elderly people in southwest Houston remain independent, seek health care and preserve their quality of life.
